A painting dedicated to her inner child. Ibarra put together this body of work in 2023, allowing her mind to wander off in to surrealist thought. "The Melting Butterflies" is an explored daydream. The symbolism of the dark and light that is frequently seen in Ibarra's pieces is symbolic to the balance that life requires. The melting butterflies were painted to also acknowledge the current global state of the world and how temperatures continue arising. This thought led Ibarra to exploring the idea of the unforeseen future and how the small gifts from the universe that bring us joy, such as the sight of a butterfly could potentially be melted away if we don't take action now.
